The Nikon D5100 is coming

box for the Nikon D5100

Prepress proofing of the Nikon D5100 box

According to NikonRumors, we’ve only got a few hours to wait. Announcement of the Nikon D5100 should be made late on Tuesday Monday 4 or early on Wednesday Tuesday 5 (probably depending on the time zone where you live).

The expected/probable features of the Nikon D5100:

  • 16 MP digital sensor from Sony (probably from the same line that gave the excellent sensors of the A55 and D7000)
  • A much better sensitivity than the Nikon D5000 but also than the Canon EOS 600D
  • 1080p video capture up to 24 fps
  • Autofocus: 11-zone AF (3D Tracking Multi-CAM 1000)
  • Tilt 3″ LCD screen, swiveling to the left side (230,000 dots)
  • Some kind of a strange new “Night Vision” mode, probably using multi-exposure or low resolution technique
  • EN-EL9 battery

  1. Nikonisti.ro leaked an RSS feed entry confirming the 16.2MP sensor, the tilt-and-swivel LCD screen and the Full HD video grabbing features.
