Everybody was expecting some changes after Ricoh purchased Pentax. As a matter of fact, Ricoh just announced that all their photography-related activities would be grouped under a single banner and inside a single common subsidiary, Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company which will take charge of all the developments.
This should reinforce the role of Pentax, but without breaking the impetus of the specific products created under the Ricoh brand like the GX-R range.
This is rather positive for the friends of Pentax who could have been frightened either to see some hesitation coming or to observe their preferred brand eaten and digested, but the headquarters made the choice of maximum stability and –certainly– maximum efficiency.
The change will officially take place on April 1st, 2012.
